Acoustic profilers for SSC monitoring in the field presented at RiverFlow 2024
The 12th International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics took place in Liverpool, UK, from September 2nd to 6th, 2024.
We were very happy to welcome you at our booth with demonstration tank, lent by the School of Civil Engineering and Built Environment. It was a very nice event to discuss particularly for us about experimental solutions for research in fundamental river flow and transport processes, river morphology and morphodynamics.
Dr Stéphane FISCHER presented our latest measurement campaigns and results on acoustic inversion with the UB-SediFlow and the CNR (Compagnie Nationale du Rhône) to get SSC profiles for different particle size classes: Combining Sampling and Acoustic Inversion for SSC Measurements, Example on an Alpine River, S. Fischer, G. Pierrefeu.
Arianna VARRANI presented her work on plastic transport, for which she used a UB-Lab P for lab experiments: Influence of plastic-clastic bed composition on the threshold conditions for the plastic fraction, A. Varrani, M. Mrokowska, M. Guerrero & P. Rowiński.
Brahim MOUDJED presented the work of INRAE on an open code application for acoustic inversion from various instruments: AcouSed: a software for acoustic inversion to compute concentrations of suspended sediments in rivers, B. Moudjed, J. Le Coz, C. Berni & B. Camenen.
The conference dinner took place in the majestic St. George’s Hall of Liverpool.
We would like to thank the organisation committee and especially Dr. Iacopo Carnacina for inviting and welcoming us. And our thanks to the Fluvial Hydraulics Committee of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR).
