An ADV profiler used for educational purpose
Graduate students of the engineering school ENSE3 (Ecole d'ingénieur pour l'énergie, l'eau et l'environnement) in Grenoble, France, have the opportunity to use an advanced research instrument for their practical training.
They are in the HOE (Hydraulique Ouvrage et Environnement) program, gravitating around the following topics: hydraulics, civil engineering and hydrology.
The UB-Lab 3C, Ubertone's ADV Profiler, used by research teams in Grenoble, is made available for a practical course on a flume. This is a great opportunity to tip a toe in the world of advanced instrumentation for scientific research.
Here they use it above a sediment bed, and with the transducer head in a bell with a suction system, touching the water surface, to reduce perturbation and gain in water height.
