New devices launched at ISUD 11 in Berlin, Germany

The 11th edition of ISUD - International Symposium on Ultrasonic Doppler Method for Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Engineering - was hosted by the PTB - Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Institute Berlin - from the 5th to the 7th of september 2018.

As ISUD is the meeting for users and experts in the field of high resolution velocity profile measurement by use of ultrasound, we took this opportunity to announce the launch of two new devices:

  • UB-Lab 2C - the 2 components velocity profiler for time and space resolved vector measurement
  • UB-Lab X8 - the profiler with 8 multiplexed transducer channels, 2 pressure and 1 temperature sensors inputs, which was demonstrated at our booth

Some experimental results using our UB-Lab and our UB-Flow have been presented by the ICube Laboratory of Strasbourg and ETH Zürich:

  • Implications of the Fluid Mechanics and the Antral Contraction Waves in the Dispersion Process of the Human Stomach, by D. Dufour, K. Feigl, F. X. Tanner, Y. Takeda, E. J. Windhab
  • Optical Versus Acoustic Turbidity in Heavy Loaded Flows, by P. Schmitt, A. Pallarès, M. Burckbuchler, S. Fischer

For this 11th ISUD edition, 8 students participated to the UBERTONE Student Awards by presenting their work.

We had the opportunity to visit the PTB laboratory, the National Metrology Institute of Germany, with explanations of some setups, like precise sound speed measurement, Dynamic Weighing Flow Calibrator, LDA measurements.

The traditional boat trip has taken us through Berlin on a channel of the Spree, letting us discover this lively and green city from a new angle. Then, we have been welcomed on a stationary boat for a gourmet Met-Flow dinner in a very friendly atmosphere.

Next ISUD conference has been announced; it will held in Kobe, Japan. We hope to see you there in 2020 !
